Working Hard, Hardly Working

Somehow I couldn’t imagine exactly what to expect from the title. Yes, almost everyone works or has worked, some work harder than others, some love their job, others hate it and everyone is responsible for certain tasks.

But the book „Working hard, hardly working: how to achieve more, stress less and feel fulfilled“ by Grace Beverley, even though I don’t work full time myself yet, has opened up a whole new perspective for me, namely that doing your job well doesn’t always mean working hard for hours on end, not taking a break, hardly sleeping and having your whole life revolve around work. Because to deliver good results and be productive, you also have to take care of yourself. True and yet surprising for me was the realisation that work is usually better when you feel good about yourself, full of energy and creativity, and you get more done that way than when you work drained. Anything you can do in a longer period of time (tired, pumped up from all the coffee, difficulty concentrating, etc.) you can do in a shorter one if you are organised, concentrated and fit.

Organisation of the working day is also something Grace places great emphasis on. She explains in numerous chapters how to get the most out of your days, weeks and months, how to set and achieve goals, and finally that it is important to do nothing. Our generation in particular is caught between the fronts of doing things 24/7 and just relaxing. Grace shows how to find a refreshing balance, be more productive and have a fulfilling life. In this book you will learn to create your own productivity method, how the routine you create works for you, to understand your own value and how to engage in effective self-care.

Do you organise your working day? How do you approach your work, any work? Let me know in the comments, Elisa xx

    Hi Elisa,
    Also schon wieder problematisch 😀
